BFI Temporary Cinema Venue With Associated Planning & Production Management - AWARD
Published
Description
The BFI plans to construct a large temporary cinema on a Central London site for the duration of the 60th BFI London Film Festival (site already selected, subject to local authority licensing approval – application in progress). The site will provide an appropriate production environment to present high-level red carpet premieres in the company of visiting A-list talent and filmmakers. The temporary auditorium will provide warm and comfortable cinematic surroundings, with high-quality digital cinema capability (installed and managed by BFI technicians), and approximately 780 cinema-style audience seats. Box office facilities and cinema concessions will also form part of the surrounding site, and are required as part of this project build. BFI London Film Festival is Britain's leading film event and one of the world's best film festivals. It introduces the finest new British and international films to an expanding London and UK-wide audience and attracts significant international film industry participation. LFF is a compelling combination of red carpet glamour, friendly audiences and vibrant exchange. LFF provides an essential profiling opportunity for films seeking global success; promotes the careers of British and international filmmakers through its industry and awards programmes and positions London as the world’s leading creative city. In 2015, The 59th BFI London Film Festival welcomed audiences of over 168,935 across approximately 16 venues, 25 screens London cinema sites during 12 days, as well as an additional UK-wide audience of 6653. The Festival screened a total of 240 fiction and documentary features, including 17 World Premieres, 8 International Premieres, 39 European Premieres and 15 Archive films (5 of which are world restorations), and screenings of 183 live action and animated shorts, all from 72 countries. It welcomed nearly 800 filmmaker guests over half of which came from international territories. Industry screenings and events were attended by over 1100 industry delegates and 805 press delegates. In 2016, the 60th BFI London Film Festival will take place from 5th-16th October. Please note, on expressing an interest, bidders will be issued a Non-Disclosure Agreement, which they will be required to complete and return electronically via the correspondence function of the BFI's In-Tend eProcurement Portal. Once the completed NDA has been received the tender documents will be issued to them.
