Description
The Local Authority Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project proposes to retrofit c. 280 000 Public Lights with energy efficient LED lanterns in 24 Local Authorities across Ireland. It is estimated that the total capital expenditure for this project will be approx. 150 000 000 EUR broken down into 3 contracts. The project will be delivered through design and build contracts in 3 geographical regions. Pre-qualification of contractors will commence in mid-2019 and It is intended that the first of the three contracts will be tendered during Q4 2019. The Local Authority Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project proposes to retrofit c. 280 000 Public Lights with energy efficient LED lanterns over the next 3-4 years in 24 Local Authorities across Ireland. 1 of the primary objectives of this project is to enable Local Authorities achieve their energy efficiency targets as set out in the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP4). The project has the potential to save 97 000 000 kWh/year in electricity and over 42 000 tonnes of CO2/year. It is estimated that the total capital expenditure for this project will be approx. 150 000 000 EUR. The project will be delivered through design and build contracts in three regions. Pre-qualification of contractors will commence in mid-2019 and It is intended that the first of the 3 contracts will be tendered during Q4 2019. The project will be delivered in 3 geographical regions, led by 1 Local Authority in each. Cork County Council will act as the Contracting Authority for the Southern Region which consists of c. 92 000 lights across 5 Local Authorities. Similarly, Kilkenny County Council will be the Contracting Authority for the Eastern Region consisting of 10 Local Authorities with c. 114 000 lights. The Contracting Authority for the North-West region is currently being finalised, and this region consists of c. 76 000 lights in 9 Local Authorities. The Road Management Office will host a market briefing event on behalf of the National Project in the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport on Tuesday 14.5.2019 from 13:00. A presentation will commence at 13:30 and will be followed by a questions and answers session. There will also be an opportunity to have a brief one-to-one session with a Project Team Member at this event. Time slots will be limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
