the council have twelve passenger lifts and 51 stairlifts primarily sheltered accommodation sites but also in some council houses. The council have a statutory duty to ensure they are in good working order and meet minimum health and safety standards as set out in the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment regulations 1998. IN mArch 2018 the council invited tenders for a 3 year contract , this was not successfully tendered. In the interim the council cannot afford to be without a contractor, therefor the incumbent provider was approached and a exceptions request sort to extend the contract by one year, during which the tender will be resubmitted.
