Description
Thames Water Utilities Limited (‘TWUL’) wishes to purchase the above land referencing programme in relation to the Thames Tunnel Project. The Thames Tunnel Project is part of the London tideway improvements, the implementation of which will substantially reduce the amount of untreated sewage entering London's rivers. The scheme is one of the largest infrastructure projects in London and builds on the sewage network masterminded in the 1860's by Sir Joseph Bazalgette. The London tideway improvements consist of three major engineering projects, starting with the upgrade of all five major sewage works on London. Construction of the four mile long Lee Tunnel has recently started to capture sewage discharges into the River Lee from Abbey Mills Pumping Station. Finally, the twenty mile long Thames Tunnel will capture storm sewage from the most polluting overflow points along the River Thames through central London. The tunnel, which will follow the course of the River Thames, will be one of the deepest ever constructed in London (up to 75 metres beneath ground level) and will be about 7.2 metres wide. The Notice applies to Land Referencing post DCO application namely the maintenance and development of the Land Schedule. Further details of the project can be found on the project's website: www.thamestidewaytunnel.co.uk TWUL is carrying out certain preparatory work as permitted by the preparatory work notice issued by DEFRA pursuant to the SIP Regulations. This includes the establishment of business capability for the Infrastructure Provider (IP) so that it can operate as a standalone entity from the point at which the successful bidder is appointed. TWUL has established an interim company, Thames Tideway Tunnel Limited (‘TTT Co’) as part of this strategy. The intention is that TTT Co will be acquired by the successful IP bidder (the ‘IP’). The contract will be awarded by TWUL (the ‘Contracting Entity’). The contract will be awarded as either (i) a joint appointment by TWUL and the IP; or (ii) a sole appointment by TWUL where the IP may, with TWUL's permission, call-off services under the appointment. The powers conferred by the DCO to acquire and use the land will be exercisable by TWUL and the IP in respect of the Tideway Tunnel works and defined in the DCO. All data and other information obtained or produced pursuant to this contract shall be shared with the IP who will have unlimited access to all data produced by the land referencing consultant The successful tenderer will be required to provide a collateral warranty to the IP in respect of all work done pursuant to the appointment. The appointment will also provide for a potential novation to the IP (and the successful tenderer shall not have any objection rights to such a novation). If the appointment is novated, the successful tenderer will be required to provide TWUL with a collateral warranty. .Interested organisations should refer to II.2 (Quantity or scope) and VI.3 (Additional information) and to the pre-qualification pack (‘PQP’) for further information.
