4950.AM.GM Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposition (Lw-DED) System<br /><br />The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposition (Lw-DED) System on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, North West.<br /><br />Scope of Requirement<br />The proposed investment in a laser wire Directed Energy Deposition (Lw-DED) system would represent a complementary capability, rather than a duplication of existing infrastructure. A laser wire DED platform would enable lower heat input compared with wire-arc systems, improved dimensional accuracy, precise repair applications and wide range of material processing capability, including refractory materials.<br /><br />The addition of a Lw-DED system would significantly enhance AMRC’s additive manufacturing capability by enabling coverage across the full spectrum of DED processes, from high deposition rate applications to highly-controlled, precise deposition.
