Description
The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for Queen Mary's College (the Client). Queen Mary's College (QMC), is a Sixth Form College in Basingstoke. The tender project is seeking to appoint a Supplier whose initiative and innovation will be welcomed for the provision of service within the existing facilities. We have in the region of 2119 full time 16-18 year old students on roll and approximately 229 teaching and support staff. We engage an additional 100 casual workers at various points across the year. The College needs the successful Supplier to review the current range of services offered and make recommendations accordingly. We require an innovative approach with a focus on exciting new food concepts to satisfy a wide range of student tastes and dietary requirements. The contract being tendered is for three years in duration from August 2017 to July 2020 and will operate as a guaranteed performance contract with the successful Supplier offering the College a guaranteed return / cost per annum for the provision of catering services. Sovereignty of the cash tariff is to remain with Queen Mary's College for the duration of this contract. The college year is based on a calendar of 195 days. Five days will be used for staff professional development. Whilst the College year is based on the County model we do not necessarily align with the school year, or require active service on all 195 days. The contract offered covers the scope for the provision of the majority of catering services within the College, which currently includes breakfast offer, morning break, lunch, some hospitality and free issue requirements. Free college meals and hospitality will be charged based on consumption and at net food cost. Whilst the College prioritises value for money as a key objective of the competitive tender process, the Governing Body and College Management Team are not obliged to accept the lowest price. Queen Mary's College expects the successful Supplier to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients being prepared on-site. The College expects the successful party to evidence, through their bid, how they will support and complement the College's aims and values. As a College which is continually seeking ways to improve and develop the ethos and environment for students and staff, to give them the facilities they deserve and need to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, any consideration regarding inward capital investment as part of the Supplier's tender submission would be welcomed. The College would wish for the Supplier to look at making this investment within the existing dining area. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to support events and out of hours business opportunities. Please be advised that this contract will be let on a 3 + 2 years basis. Further information is available in the procurement documents.
