Summary of the work We're looking for a product manager to join us to work on a discovery we are doing with Sport Wales. The question for discovery is “How can Sport Wales increase the reach and impact of their community investments (grants)?”. Specialist role Product manager Expected Contract Length 6 months with the option of a 25% extension (6 weeks) Latest start date Monday 14 June 2021 Maximum Day Rate £700 inclusive of travel expenses if travel becomes required Who Speclialist Work With You'll be joining an experienced agile coach and user researcher from the Centre and a service owner and subject matter experts from Sport Wales. You’ll be coaching the wider team on product management and user centred design. What Specialists Work On As a Product Manager you’ll: provide direction and leadership for multidisciplinary agile product teams define, explain and iterate a product vision that's compelling to users, team and stakeholders develop and prioritise a product backlog, writing good user stories and making decisions based on evidence own and be responsible for developing and articulating a clear vision, achievable goals and measurable objectives, which are aligned to the goals and objectives of Sport Wales lead engagement with stakeholders, users and partner organisations, by running demos, blogging, facilitating workshops coaching and mentoring the team at SportWales to help them build skills in product management Skills & Experience • Demonstrable experience leading teams/products through discovery and alpha phases • Recent evidence of creating and developing product strategies • Demonstrable evidence of deep agile understanding and experience • Evidence that you have a thorough understanding of a variety of disciplines involved in digital delivery, including engineering, service-design, performance analysis and user research developed through working in multidisciplinary teams • Recent evidence of engagement with stakeholders with varying levels of understanding of user centred design and agile • Demonstrable evidence of managing complex stakeholder situations • Recent evidence of coaching and identifying learning opportunities Nice to Haves • Professional-level fluency in Welsh language • demonstrable experience of working in the Welsh Public Sector Work Location Working remotely Working Arrangments We expect this work will be done remotely for the foreseeable future. Should official guidance change during the duration of this engagement, you may be expected to attend meetings across Wales. When you mention ‘if travel becomes required’, is this likely to be regular travel to a specific office/location day to day, or ad hoc travel as needed? It would be ad hoc travel. Travel is not a requirement at this point. Any questions around travel would be discussed with the successful specialist to ensure it is something they are comfortable with and done within all COVID guidelines. 5. We assume that the specialist can work from outside of UK also (Offshore). Please confirm. This role is not suitable for offshoring. 6. Is there already an idea of the products being kicked off or investigated as levers to enable higher take up of sports in Wales? No. The focus of the discovery is not on products or technology.
