Vehicle location system

Description

The National Transport Authority wishes to engage suppliers with experience/knowledge of Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. The National Transport Authority overall objective is to introduce of a new AVL System, that will provide a standard integrated tool. That will consolidate Ireland's public transport network Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system. Aim and objectives of a new system is to: — move more people to public transport as a first choice, — provide technology support (data) to the Authority to aid decision making, — support transport operators to run effective and efficient services, — simplify the operational support and maintenance function (increasing service and information reliability, accuracy, etc.), and — to provide next generation technology to future proof the platform and provide flexibility to efficiently implement new applications and services.
