400 MHz NMR instrument with 5mm broadband probe for characterising food ingredients and identifying molecules. Nofima is Norway's leading food research institute that carries out applied research and development for the aquaculture industry, the fishing industry, and the food industry. The analysis of complex food matrixes and ingredients make up an important research field for Nofima. Advanced analytical technologies are essential for a lot of the research in Nofima, as they make it possible for projects to achieve results of very good quality. Nofima has a goal of expanding its portfolio of analytical instruments, and therefore intends to procure its first high-field NMR instrument; 400 MHz NMR. Specifically, Nofima intends to procure a system from Bruker, AVANCE NEO 400MHz NANOBAY (NB) SYSTEM, equipped with iProbe BBFO 5mm BBF/1H and an optional flow system (InsightMR flow system) for online reaction monitoring. 10 day waiting period from the publication in Doffin/TED. Lot 1: Nofima has a strong research position in the characterisation of food matrixes, process monitoring, and quality optimisation. This investment is will mean we can further develop our possibilities for univariate structural lighting/clarification/explanation of molecules, as well as enable multivariate 'food-omics' approaches. In order to execute this we need a system based on sensitivity for specific atoms, atomisation alternatives that enable increased flow through and online reaction (process) monitoring. The specifications we require for such a system are as follows: Magnet: - field strength: 9.4 T (equivalent to 400 MHz for 1H) - holding time for liquied nitrogen and helium: >14 and >280 days respectively - 5 G line measured from the magnetic centre (radial & axial direction): less than 1.1 m - operating rate: less than 5 Hz / hour - equipped with: (i) an anti-vibration system that diminishes frequencies >4 Hz in vertical and horisontal directions, (ii) sensors for liquid nitrogen and helium, and (iii) software that automatically reports levels of liquid nitrogen and helium Console: - equipped with: (i) 2 transmitters and 2 receiver channels, (ii) a VT control system, (iii) a 2H locking system, (iv) a pulsed field gradient system, (v) automatic gradient shimming functionality, and (vi) a tool for automatic adjustment of pulse lengths, shimming, and temperature calibration. Probehead: - diameter: 5mm - 2 channels where the high and low frequency channels cover at least {1H} and {19F, 31P-29Si and 17O-15N}, respectively - 1H sensitivity (0.1% EB): >525:1 - 13C sensitivity (ASTM): >210:1 - 31P sensitivity (TPP): >175:1 - gradient in Z direction: at least 50 G/cm - VT range: at least -125 to +125 C - equipped with: (i) automatic tuning and matching of both channels, and (ii) a 2H locking channel Sample exchanger: - capacity: >20 samples. Software: - software for data collection, processing, and analysis Flow unit: - flow unit must include: (i) dedicated software, (ii) a pump (enables flow speeds between 0.1 and 10 ml/min), and (iii) a heat/cooling circulator - flow unit must: (i) be compatible with 3 and 5 mm NMR probe heads, (ii) allow sample temperatures between -20 and +120 C (iii), support capillaries with an outer diameter of at least 1.5 mm, and (iv) have a temperature controlled transfer line with a length of >6 m. Service and support: - Delivery must include service and support services. The maximum response time is 24 hours due to Nofima's use and need for operational stability. We also expect a prioritised on-site response.
