Description

The aim of the community infection prevention and control service is to support the implementation and maintenance of the infection prevention and control standards within primary health and social care providers. The service provides support to these providers and the public by coordinating and offering support to undertake root cause analyses, training, expert advice, audit and response to outbreaks and incidents. The service responds to cases, clusters and outbreaks of communicable disease within the community, in partnership where necessary and following agreed (Public Health England (PHE) protocols. This specification details the requirement for a community infection control service. The provision of Trust facing infection control is outside of this specification. The focus of the service will be to reduce and sustain reductions in healthcare-associated infections. In particular, the service will support commissioners to achieve a reduction in the rate of C difficile infections, in line with national objectives and support Knowsley CCG to deliver on the requirement for zero tolerance of avoidable MRSA bacteraemias. The objective of the service is to implement and report on a robust infection control programme that delivers on all components of the specification
