Peatland Restoration - Mar Estate, Alltan Odhar

This contract notice provides a statement of requirements for a peatland restoration project to be delivered in the Cairngorms National Park. The work will be tendered on a day rate basis. Peatland ACTION funding for the Cairngorms National Park Authority 2026/27 programme will be determined in the early part of 2026. Funding for this project will therefore be confirmed at that time. Lot 1: Mar Estate are seeking a competent contractor to deliver this work and aim to award contracts ready for commencement on 1 July 2026. This date is dependent on breeding bird constraints, and the commencement date will be confirmed in June 2026. Contractors should be prepared for project commencement not being until later in July as a possibility. An airlift is to be carried out within the first 2 weeks of July (pending confirmation of no breeding bird constraints), to ensure materials are in place to carry out track maintenance works on the way into site. During this time, one excavator will be required to load the stone at the laydown area, and one machine will be required to carry out the track maintenance. Mobilisation of all four machines to the project area must then be carried out for restoration works to start 15 July 2026. Works must be completed, and all equipment mobilised away from the site, by 18 September 2026. This deadline reflects estate requirements and tenders will need to demonstrate this deadline for completion can be met.
