Description

Arva AS has an urgent need to upgrade and rehabilitate a 20 MVA transformer so that it can be put into permanent operation in summer/autumn 2024. The upgrade is linked to supply security and safeguarding supply security for existing grid customers, as well as the need to increase capacity for new connections. Lot 1: The procurement includes both maintenance and alterations (including performance upgrades and refurbishment) of an existing transformer, which is already owned by Arva. Among other things, public decisions related to road projects in Sørfold municipality, which have led to a need for increased power consumption in the relevant part of the grid, mean that Arva is forced to rapidly increase traffic capacity. The possible consequences of Arva not getting this done in time could be very strained operations, or planned billion-dollar projects having to be postponed. The relevant transformer is manufactured by ASEA - Per Kure, and was originally built at the factory in Drammen. This portfolio, (incl. history, documentation, previous maintenance work, etc.) is currently at Hitachi Energy (formerly ABB) in Drammen. Arva believes that the assignment, based on requirements related to delivery time, expertise, quality, transport costs and minimising uncertainty, can only be carried out by Hitachi Energy in Drammen.
