Statsbygg, c/o Campus ÅS wants to enter into contract no. K901.03 MR machine for standing horse. The MR machine shall be delivered ready installed in Faraday-cages — ready for use. The MR of standing horses is an examination method of great help with the diagnostic work in connection with limping. The MR machine is particularly good for visualising soft tissue structures such as tendons and fraenum, i.e. structures invisible through x-ray. The MR machine is able to scan the horse's legs up to and including the front knees and hocks. The MR scanning shall be conducted on standing horses. The standing MR scanning gives us the possibility to diagnose limping problemes when the traditional examination methods fail to give complete answers to the problem. This provides us with the possibility to select the right treatment. By using standing MR scanning, we avoid anaesthetising the horse, which may be unfortunate in connection with the awakening process.
