The Caerphilly Tunnel Bore is located at CAR 6m 6ch to 7m 14ch, OS Map Reference ST 17912 84295 (low mileage), ST 17208 85922 (high mileage).Caerphilly Tunnel is running through the Caerphilly Mountain between Caerphilly and Lisvane near Cardiff in South Wales. It is a single bore tunnel located on the CAR (Cardiff – Rhymney) Line, spanning from 6m 6ch to 7m 14ch, with a length of 1784m and a twin track line passing through.Caerphilly tunnel was constructed between the years 1866-71, with 2 tunnel portals and 5 tunnel shafts. Historical records indicate there is a hidden shaft ‘Shaft No.6’ whose existence was confirmed by an investigation.AIW seek to procure a Subcontractor under and NEC4 Option A Subcontract to undertake the brickwork/masonry repair works throughout the extent of the tunnel, and design of water management solutions.
