Description

The EPA is issuing this Request for Tender (RFT) for gamma detection systems, which can be used to screen environmental and food samples in an emergency. The instruments will be installed in laboratories in Dublin, Monaghan, Kilkenny and Castlebar. Detectors must be capable of measuring Cs-137, Cs-134, I-131 and K-40 using the sample geometry that is currently in use in EPA. The data must be produced in such a form that it can be uploaded into a laboratory information management system. Operation of the instruments must be user friendly and it must be possible to carry out in-house calibration and QA checks. Suppliers please note, the initial contract will be for the purchase of two (2) gamma detection systems, with a further two (2) systems to be purchased in Year 2. Should additional funding become available, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) may undertake to draw down on the full amount in one tranche.
