Description

The Department of Physics at Maynooth University seeks a specialised aerosol measurement instrument to accurately measure and analyse ultra-fine particles. This instrument should provide real-time measurements of airborne particle concentrations with corresponding particle size distribution data. The primary use of the instrument will be within the research laboratories of the Department of Physics, where it will support a range of fundamental and applied research activities in the remit of indoor aerosol science. These include, but are not limited to, indoor air quality assessment, particle dynamics, deposition, new particle formation, infiltration of outdoor aerosol, and emission characterisation. In addition to the application within laboratory conditions, the instrument should be designed for flexibility and portability to enable its use in other campus facilities, and residential and commercial buildings. This capability will allow for the replication of real-world conditions. While the main focus is indoor air quality, the instrument should also be adaptable for potential future applications in outdoor aerosol monitoring.
