25ECU001 – Sanquhar Tolbooth Stonework Improvements

Sanquhar Tolbooth Stonework Improvements Lot 1: The refurbishment works to the Sanquhar Tolbooth consists of the removal of densely applied cement pointing and slurry on the North Elevation of the Grade A Listed Sanquhar Tolbooth and repointing with a suitable lime mortar specified by the Scottish Lime Centre. Due to the condition of the existing stonework, following the removal of cement pointing, the works will also include several stone replacements (either partial or full) and finally, lime harling the repointed elevation for additional protection as specified by the Scottish Lime Centre. Experienced stonemasons are required to carry out works to the Grade A Listed Building and must agree to deliver the project within the restricted timeframe, ensuring stone replacements can be delivered to site and installed as and when required. Suitable replacement buff sandstone has been identified by the Scottish Lime Centre and the winning contractor will agree to procuring this in advance from the identified quarries. The project is scheduled to commence on site on the 18th of May 2026 with a non-negotiable completion date of the 10th of July 2026. The overall duration is 8 weeks in total, inclusive of a fixed 6-week road closure from 01.06.2026 – 10.07.2026 (to be confirmed) along the A76 trunk road to allow a fully enclosed free-standing scaffold with temperature and humidity controls to be erected to facilitate the works. The appointed Main Contractor will adopt a Traffic Management Contractor that has been procured through Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Framework Agreement upon tender award..
