Description
Fuel, oil, lubricant and grease products are required to support most MoD platforms and equipment’s used throughout Defence. The Front Line Commands (FLC) requirement for analytical support covers all elements of training and operational activities; it is therefore essential to ensure that all products used within the military environment are fit for purpose. This is achieved by ensuring that the correct quality management process is in place, during both the procurement and the transfer of product into MoD use. Quality of products once transferred into MoD storage is monitored by DSFA through analysis of bulk product quality throughout the supply chain by Defence Standards and informed by NATO STANAGs. In order to ensure that products provisioned by the authority are fit for purpose and will meet operational requirements, the contractor shall conduct quality assurance testing of fuels, lubricants and associated products (associated products are defined in sections 3, 4 and 5 of Defence Standard 01-005). All routine testing is to be conducted in accordance with STANAG 3149 latest issue Type B2 testing, or STANAG 4714 latest issue, or as directed by the Defence Strategic Fuels Authority (DSFA). Test methods used must be in accordance with the relevant product specification unless authorised by the DSFA in advance.
