East Lothian Council is seeking to explore potential solutions, gauge market interest, and identify viable financing opportunities for the redevelopment of the Brunton Hall theatre in Musselburgh, with a continued commitment to supporting the arts within the town. To achieve this, the Council wishes to engage with the market to assess interest in redeveloping the site to include a dedicated theatre and performance space. Subject to obtaining the necessary consents, the remainder of the site may be considered for commercial development to help offset the cost of delivering the arts facilities. This Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) aims to determine whether there are suppliers, funders or developers capable of delivering a solution that meets these specific requirements. Responses will be used to establish if there is an appetite for such an opportunity and to inform future strategy. The Council is open to exploring a range of delivery structures, including joint ventures, development partnerships, leasing, and operator-led models, to secure a sustainable outcome.
