Maintenance of Street Lighting, Illuminated Traffic Signs, Footway Bollards and Feeder Pillars

Rhondda-Cynon-Taf County Borough Council are seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors to undertake the maintenance of Street Lighting, Illuminated Traffic Signs, footway bollards and feeder pillars. The Authorities wish to appoint one contractor to complete all works. Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC currently has a street lighting inventory consisting of 30,300 streetlights, 2,400 illuminated traffic signs, 38 illuminated footway bollards and approximately 1,300 feeder pillars. The luminaries are mounted on street lighting columns and sign posts ranging in height from 1.5 to 12 metres and mounting brackets erected on both structures and Electricity Company overhead network poles. The electricity supply is provided by a combination of Electricity Company direct services and the Council’s private cable network. The Columns and sign posts are constructed from various materials which include stainless steel, galvanised mild steel, folded steel and aluminium, varying in age and condition. There are no longer any internally illuminated traffic bollards in Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC, leaving only connections within the base which the successful contractor will be expected to isolate and pot end if the bollard is damaged and requires replacing during the term of the contract. Within this contract, the term bollard shall mean internally illuminated footway bollards. The successful tenderer would be required to undertake all future street lighting and illuminated traffic signs maintenance by repairing outages, the repairing or replacement of street lighting and illuminated traffic signs infrastructure, electrical testing and providing 24 hour emergency site attendance to ensure safety for users of the Highways system within the geographical boundary.
