The aims and objectives for the Rural Growth Deal – Kintyre Seasports – Demolition of Existing Sailing Club and Construction of New Facility are to: - Demolish the existing sailing club building and deliver a modern, fit for purpose seasports facility that meets current standards and demand. - Provide a high-quality, accessible and inclusive hub for watersports, training, education, and community use. - Enhance participation in water-based activities for local residents, schools, and visitors, supporting health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. - Support sustainable economic growth by strengthening Campbeltown’s marine tourism offer and increasing visitor numbers. - Create opportunities for employment, vocational training, and skills development within the maritime sector. - Deliver a high-quality waterfront development that contributes to placemaking and wider town centre regeneration objectives. - Incorporate sustainable and low-carbon design principles in line with net zero targets and best practice environmental standards. The Contract comprises the planning, management and execution of all works necessary to deliver the demolition of the existing Campbeltown Sailing Club building and the construction of a new Kintyre Sea Sports facility on the same site. The Contractor shall be responsible for the safe demolition and clearance of the existing structure, followed by the delivery of a new two storey building including all associated civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical works, together with internal fit out and installation of fixtures, fittings and equipment required for full operational use. The works include the comprehensive planning, management and monitoring of the construction phase, as well as the role of Principal Contractor, and the procurement and coordination of the supply chain. The Contract also includes all associated external works, including hard and soft landscaping, access arrangements, service connections, and provision for boat and equipment storage, together with coordination and liaison with statutory undertakers and relevant authorities. The constrained waterfront site, within a residential area make the careful management of these arrangements particularly important. Lot 1: Argyll and Bute Council have agreed to undertake a “on behalf of” procurement for Kintyre Seasports to appoint a contractor for the demolition of the existing Sailing Club building and the construction of a new facility.
