Description

The University of Edinburgh invites you to tender for the provision of a study titled “Just resilience”: Understanding the experiences of low-income households facing increasing climate disruption” This Invitation to Tender (“ITT”) is for an Open procedure which shall be conducted in accordance with Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 to establish a contract. Lot 1: ClimateXChange (CXC) wishes to commission research to explore how low-income households experience increasing climate disruption. Climate impacts such as flooding, extreme heat and cold, storms and wildfires do not affect all people equally; instead, exposure, vulnerability and adaptive capacity vary significantly depending on social and economic circumstances. This project will build on CXC’s previous scoping review (The impacts of climate change on population groups in Scotland | ClimateXChange) to develop a deeper understanding of how individuals and households are experiencing these impacts in practice, how they anticipate risks changing in the future, and the ways in which they are currently adapting. The work is commissioned on behalf of the Scottish Government, and of particular interest to the Adaptation Policy Team and the Just Transition Team. The results must be presented in a format and language that can be easily understood by readers without an academic background. Written outputs must be well presented and written in plain English. The project will adopt qualitative methodologies to capture in-depth insights from affected communities across Scotland. It will explore how climate impacts are currently experienced, how risks are expected to evolve, and the extent to which households can adapt. Particular attention should be paid to intersectional factors that compound vulnerability, as well as to identifying both barriers to adaptation and enablers of resilience.
