Description

Kickham Barracks, formerly known as Clonmel Barracks, is physically at the heart of Clonmel, and was established on the current site in the late 18th century. After 230 years of service, the Defence Forces of Ireland vacated the barracks in March 2012. Tipperary County Council is now coordinating the redevelopment of the Barracks. Tipperary County Council have identified four buildings for conservation, refurbishment and adaptive re-use through the THRIVE strand 1 process. The four structures are located at the most public-facing aspect of the extensive Kickham Barracks site and sit adjacent to the new proposed campus of the future, a shared vision between Technical University of the Shannon and Tipperary Education and Training Board.
