NIBTS uses a computerised blood management system called Pulse to record, manage and control activities from blood donation to blood issue. The ongoing development and support has been delivered by Savant since its design and implementation in the organisation. The overall architecture of the system is based on an Itanium-based clustered server environment running the VMS operating environment while a Mimer database system provides the core data management environment. The current environment was commissioned around 2010 and requires replacement. Selection and deployment of specified Itanium-based clustered server environment for Pulse blood management system
