Description

Inland Fisheries Ireland invites tenders for the provision of the services to undertake a genetic stock identification of salmon intercepted in the commercial fishery in Cork Harbour in 2024 and their assignment to potential river systems where these fish originated based on biological samples taken by IFI in 2024. A comprehensive report on the results of this work is also required. A total of 1,159 biological samples are available for this work comprising 1) fry and parr samples from seven rivers in the Cork Harbour region; and 2) adult salmon from the Cork Harbour commerical fishery. Further details of the project and samples available for analyses are available in the tender documentation that is associated with this request for tender. Ultimately the project is to inform the provision of advice to better facilitate the sustainable stock management of the Cork Harbour commercial fishery and associated river fisheries.
