Earthing services framework. Lot 1 = Maintenance & remedial works, Lot 2 = Consultancy, measurement and modelling services. National Grid owns and operates the high voltage electricity transmission system in England and Wales and the high pressure gas transmission system in Great Britain. Earthing systems provide safety for personnel working in or near an installation, provide paths for the safe passage of fault current and lightning strike dissipation and to manage the impact of the operation of the installation from earth potential rise to adjacent parties. This enquiry is for the provision of maintenance services to defined work specifications and the provision of required remedial services. NG may require the contractor to undertake earthing works at sites across England and Wales (including Scotland for gas transmission sites). This may be at green field sites where a new or modification to existing substation or overhead line is proposed or at gas installations, including terminals, compressor stations, AGI’s or pipelines.
