UKRI-3670 Through-Wall Telemanipulators for LBNF Target Remote Handling

Published

Value

240,000 GBP

Description

UKRI is providing a neutrino production target and associated remote handling equipment as UK in-kind contributions to the US-based LBNF-DUNE experiment (https://lbnf-dune.fnal.gov/about/overview/). This includes a pair of long-reach double telescoping (electric & manual) through-wall telemanipulators as specified in the Specification. The Specification provides Potential Suppliers with an opportunity to submit proposals for the supply of telemanipulators to suit the requirements defined within. Lot 1: The purpose of this document is to invite proposals from Potential Suppliers for the procurement of a pair of through-wall telemanipulators, plus associated services such as delivery, installation, and commissioning & training. It is expected that the winning proposal will form the basis of a subsequent contract of purchase between the Seller and the Buyer “UKRI”. This document describes the technical requirements for the procurement. Potential Suppliers are to provide quotation based on these requirements. Any technical queries relating to the scope of this document or clarifications should be made through the Delta e-sourcing portal by the date specified in section 2.2 of the Invitation to Tender. FNAL currently houses remote maintenance areas associated with existing experiments outside of LBNF and has an inventory of telemanipulators within the laboratory. The telemanipulators described in this document will be used to assist with target replacement operations as well as unplanned maintenance operations within a shielded work-cell located in the future LBNF-20 target complex building at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) in Batavia, Illinois. The work cell (WC) is a beamline equipment maintenance facility rather than a dedicated hot-cell facility for waste disposal or Post Irradiation Examination (PIE). As such, it is not a leak-tight cell, and remote handling equipment is not expected to be subject to routine contamination or continuous operation. Additional information: All information regarding this tender can be found within the Specification document, Suppliers are to register through the e-sourcing portal in order to gain access to this information.
