Description
As part of the Housing Act 1996 and Housing Reduction 2017 the local authority have a statutory duty to provide temporary accommodation in some circumstances. Middlesbrough Council also wants to improve relationships with the private rented sector to create more housing options for those who need it. Middlesbrough Council is seeking to appoint several Providers (Housing Associations, Private Landlords, Lettings Agents, or other capable organisations) with a full range of suitable emergency / temporary accommodation to meet a range of accommodation needs, from one bedroom accommodation for single households up to larger family accommodation. Providers will work closely with the Housing Solutions Team to provide suitable emergency / temporary accommodation for households eligible for temporary accommodation. As part of a new initiative to engage private sector landlords across the Borough to help address the issue of homelessness, Middlesbrough Council would like landlords to agree to a proactive way of working for their properties to be re-let quickly to people who find themselves in urgent housing need. The authority understands that this has been a fast-changing market over recent years and that its response needs to be in line with these changes Lot 1: As part of the Housing Act 1996 and Housing Reduction 2017 the local authority have a statutory duty to provide temporary accommodation in some circumstances.
