Småskallen and Molldøra - Dredging

Molldøra and Småskallan, both in located in Vågan municipality, are areas in the northern part of Nordland County, where Molldøra is the strait between Lillemolla and Storemolla while Småskallan are submarine shells located outside Kabelvåg. (main fairway 1176 Henningsvær-Svolvær-Molldøra). The planned measures in Molldøra and Småskallan are first and foremost safety measures and will not change the sailing / transport pattern or in the distribution of means of transport in the area. The measures must ensure that vessels with a draught of up to 6 m that use the fairway can safely travel through Molldøra. An alternative fairway for Molldøra for vessels with larger draught is Skrovsvedet. Molldøra The measures in transit through Molldøra include 3 planned dredging measures as well as the desired disposal in the seabed landfill located in the same area. The measures are within what is defined as fairway area. It is planned to deepen the fairway to -7.5 m (nautical chart zero) and extend the fairway width to 216 m. The measures include the following areas; Area 1 Kjepsøyflua 12,083 m2), Area 2 Kjefsøyflu (11,573 m2), Area 3 3: Husholmen (11,299 m2). See the plan map Molldøra. The total planned dredging area is estimated at 34,377 m2, while the estimated planned dredging volume is 80,500 m3 and is distributed between rock 50,560 m3 and loose materials 48,000 m3. Contamination has not been detected in the loose materials. The loose materials are planned to be be disposed in the planned seabed landfill in Molldøra. Approx. 35,000 disposed rock masses shall be deposited in Pundsletta. Småskallan The measures at Småskallan include two planned dredging measures as well as the disposal in the planned seabed landfill at Molldøra. Dredging down to -12 m (nautical chart zero) is planned. Småskallan Sør has an area of about 1040 m2 and the north-eastern plot Småskallan north, has an area of approx. 1910 m2. A total of approximately 7000 m3 of rock shall be subject to dredging.
