Summary of the work Solutions Architect who will: • Identify and produce solution architecture. • Engage stakeholders and suppliers to define and document solution architecture for complex data-centric transformation programmes. • Ensure re-use and alignment with technical standards and re-use of platform components. • Develop data collection standards and models. Interviews (London): 12 December Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length Three months initially with the option for NHS Improvement to extend up to a maximum of nine months. Latest start date Wednesday 3 January 2018 Maximum Day Rate Up to £850 inclusive of expenses, any agency fees, travel to/from base location & exclusive of VAT. Please note NHS Improvement anticipates this role will be within IR35. The successful supplier is responsible for paying the worker and must; • calculate a deemed direct payment to account for employment taxes associated with the contract, • deduct those taxes from the payment, • report to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) through Real Time Information (RTI) the taxes deducted, • pay the relevant employers’ NICs. Who Speclialist Work With Working with various internal stakeholders and reports across the business, including but not limited to: Enterprise Architect; Product & Project Managers; DevOps; and; IT Support teams, within the Technology & Data directorate. What Specialists Work On The Solutions Architect will provide design and architectural expertise across a number of data analytical workstreams. Work includes production and maintenance of high and low level solution designs and ensuring alignment with wider project direction and organisation technical alignment. They will work on programmes to build and transform services. They will be responsible for the development of data standards, data models and data mart design. The SA will report to the Enterprise Architect and will be responsible for the data domain of complex IT analytics programmes. Skills & Experience • have a minimum of five years solution architecture experience of data centric warehousing / big data change programmes (15 points) • have a minimum of five years’ experience of strategic alignment of technical architecture and design to meet clients’ business, digital and technology drivers and objectives (15 points) • have a minimum of five years’ experience of designing and evolving the most appropriate solution/technical architecture to meet clients’ requirements, fully integrating across different environments and technologies (15 points) • have a minimum two years’ experience working with NHS data sets (10 points) • have a minimum of two year’s experience in data vault modelling, data mart modelling and technical data standards (10 points) • have proven, relevant expertise in advanced analytical solutions including visualisation tools (tableau), big data (Microsoft APS Appliance), Machine learning and predictive analytics (10 points) • demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of digital and cloud technologies (5 points) • demonstrate a working knowledge of azure cloud architecture patterns and digital design patterns (5 points) Work Location Primarily NHS Improvement's London office (133-135 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8UG) with some travel to other NHS Improvement regional offices in England. Working Arrangments We expect you to be present in the office, as face-to-face engagement is considered to be most effective. This role may involve travel to one or more regional offices including but not limited to; Taunton, Leeds, Manchester, Derby and Birmingham. When travelling outside of London, travel expenses will be paid, in line with our internal policy. Working from home may be possible on occasion, but only by exception. Does this fall within IR35? NHS Improvement anticipates this role will be within IR35. The successful supplier must ensure that the resource supplied is employed and paid in compliance with the IR35 legislation. 2. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted? Should you be successful at sift stage, invitations to interview will be sent by 17:00 on Tuesday 5 December. Interviews will be on 11 and/or 12 December. Feedback on unsuccessful applications will be sent in December. 3. Any chances of change in start date as the latest date mentioned is Wednesday 3 January 2018? January 3rd is the latest anticipated start. A date must be put forward in the application, "ASAP" or similar proposed start dates will be rejected. 4. What are the other expenses which will be paid? Travel & accommodation expenses (in line with internal policy) will be paid when travelling outside of London. All other expenses (including travel to/from base location) must be included in the offered rate. 5. What are the exact work locations? Primarily NHS Improvement's London office (133-135 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8UG) with possibly some travel to other NHS Improvement regional offices in England (e.g. Taunton, Leeds, Manchester, Derby and Birmingham). 6. Any specific format (pdf,doc) in which CVs to be sent later? To assess work history, we require an up to date CV (in MS Word), showing in detail at least three related previous roles. This will be requested when the invite to interview are sent on Tuesday 5 December. 7. Is occasional remote working allowed? We expect the resource to be present in the office, as face-to-face engagement is considered to be most effective. Working from home may be possible on occasion, but only by exception. 8. Is there any travel involved in this role and will the travel expenses be paid? See previous answer. 9. Is the rate inclusive or exclusive of VAT? Rates submitted must be inclusive of all expenses, any agency fees & exclusive of VAT. 10. Would you consider work permit holders (e.g. Tier 2 General Visa) and EU passport holders for this role ? Suppliers must verify proposed candidate's right to work in the UK and any qualifications essential to delivery of the requirement or put forward in the application, before the candidate is submitted. What technologies will the consultant work on or should have experience with, please give detail? Technical environment Digital: Azure cloud services. PaaS webapps, AzureSQL, traffic manager. Web framework - Python / Django, Angular. Identity management - Okta. CMS - wagtail.Data platform architecture: Technical environment - Microsoft APS SQL 2016, Tableau, SAS and Alteryx Oracle DB (legacy platforms).
