Goods-Framework-Supply and Delivery of Reactive Media for Phosphorus Removal

United Utilities Water Limited intend to put in place a Framework for the Supply and Delivery of Phosphorus Removal – specifically low complexity process that does not involve dosing chemical coagulant products. The Framework will cover supply and delivery to the various United Utilities (UU) sites across the North West of England that need phosphorus removal/treatment. UU has been looking for alternatives to chemical dosing for Phosphorus removal and has trialled a number of solutions. The solution is required to remove the need to install potable water for chemical make-up and safety equipment associated with chemical dosing, e.g. Safety showers. The requirement may be fulfilled by the use of reactive media. Additionally the solution must be chemical free, as this also reduces the requirement for frequent chemical deliveries and sludge export tankering from the site. As the technologies will be used in smaller unmanned locations any solution must have a low maintenance requirement and therefore being passive in nature would be an advantage.
