Description

In 2017 the Norwegian Environment Agency instructed Avinor to clear PFOS polluted ground at Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes through the establishment of a water treatment facility for treating run-off from the former fire training area (BØF) to the west of the runway. The scope of various measures were considered as regards site implementation and waste management, as well as the costs of implementing the measures. Avinor decided to carry out the most comprehensive alternative, in which all known PFOS pollution is removed through the measure. The assignment includes transport of PFOS matter to approved landfill. The estimated combined quantity PFOS: 12.9 kg ± 8 kg. Estimated quantity of material to landfill: 18 000 tonne Implementation period: December 2020 — April 2021. The contract for boat transport and landfill of polluted matter has an interface with the excavation contract and within an individual contract for water purification in the construction phase.
