Description

The proposed Modular Switch and Crossing Grinder is to be a maintenance tool used for the grinding of built-up welds as well as for deburring rail heads and switches. These machines will be specifically designed for grinding operations through switch and crossings and either side of the rail head. The objective of this procurement is to replace the entire fleet of aged machines (104 units) to effect a more efficient design concerning ergonomics and functionality. The intention is to replace the existing fleet with a machine suitable for a 2-person lift, an improvement from the current 4-person lift design. This translates to a maximum overall weight of 25 kg per person engaged in lifting the machine.
