The National Paediatric Hospital Development Board (“NPHDB” or the “Contracting Authority”) was established to design, build and equip a new national children’s hospital to accommodate the merged paediatric services of 3 existing hospitals in Dublin — Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Children’s University Hospital Temple Street and the National Children’s Hospital Tallaght. The scope of the project to develop a new children’s hospital, in broad terms, comprises the following: — the demolition of all existing buildings on the site of the new children’s hospital, which is located on the site of the existing St James Hospital in Dublin, — construction of the new children’s hospital building and associated helipad. The new children’s hospital building will include 380 inpatient bedrooms and 93 day beds located on a 4.85 ha site at the western side of the St James’s Campus. The National Paediatric Hospital Development Board (“NPHDB” or the “Contracting Authority”) was established by legislation (Statutory Instrument 246/2007) to design, build and equip a new national children’s hospital to accommodate the merged paediatric services of three existing hospitals in Dublin — Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Children’s University Hospital Temple Street and the National Children’s Hospital Tallaght. The scope of the project to develop a new children’s hospital, in broad terms, comprises the following: — the demolition of all existing buildings on the site of the new children’s hospital, which is located on the site of the existing St James Hospital in Dublin, — construction of the new children’s hospital building and associated helipad. The new children’s hospital building will include 380 inpatient bedrooms and 93 day beds located on a 4.85 ha site at the western side of the St James’s Campus, — a 2-level underground car park under the new children’s hospital, with a further level of shared facilities management hub and energy centre below. Parking for the new children’s hospital will be provided by way of surface level and basement level accommodation and there will be 400 bicycle parking spaces, — construction of a family accommodation unit and a proposed Children’s Research and Innovation Centre (at the discretion of the Contracting Authority), and — the proposed hospital development also includes all ancillary site clearance, construction, site development and landscaping works; the removal of parking spaces to facilitate the construction of the children’s hospital and a Children’s Research and Innovation Centre; reinstatement and upgrading up to the fence boundary with St John’s lane; replacement of existing boundaries on South Circular Road and the boundary with the linear park to the south; upgrading works to entrances, footpath and roadways at.
