Description

At the end of July, ZPL who were partnering with Marine Directorate on the Wick Smolt Tracking Project collected 60 receivers used. They opened 67 receivers meaning that 7 were opened (communicated with and told to release). As they had not come to the surface they may have been stuck closed and opened at any time causing a surface risk to navigation. Accordingly, an emergency charter was arranged on 29-30 July 2023 to recover these missing 7 receivers to avoid any future risks.
