The Provision of a Consultant Team to Develop a Playing Pitch Strategy

In 2016, Council developed a Sports Facility Framework which provided a framework for the prioritisation, development and provision of sports facilities at local level, to meet identified community need. This was one of 11 Local Frameworks developed in the context of the NI-wide work. The purpose of the Framework was to identify the strategic need for sports facilities in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. In recent years, Council has been approached by various sports clubs and organisations requesting additional outdoor pitch provision due to perceived increase in participation and lack of facilities across various sports. In November 2024, Members requested Officers explore a method for sports clubs to demonstrate need for playing pitches.
