We have recently award a contract to providers with a proven track record of working with young people aged 11-24 who can offer a range of outcomes and accreditations that will assist the learners in their future personal and social development, reduce their vulnerability and who can demonstrate progression and improvement in their attendance at school or college, behaviour and attainment. They will offer a wide range of interventions aimed at reducing already identified young person's risk of becoming NEET. The project will operate across the six local authority areas of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Powys. The operation will function through a series of activities, both innovative and established. 1.a. Ages 11-16. Lead workers to support participants who have not reached satisfactory attainment levels. School-based support must be referenced to the Literacy and Numeracy Framework. http://learning.gov.wales/resources/browse-all/nlnf/?lang=en 1.b. Ages 16-24. Lead workers to support participants who have not reached satisfactory attainment levels. Offering volunteering opportunities to participants. Offering enhanced volunteering support to ensure that volunteering opportunities provide a high quality, positive outcome to the Operation's aims. Suppliers who wish to tender for this lot may wish to draw on the specialist knowledge within the relevant County Voluntary Council. Employability skills programme to better prepare participants for work, including job search skills; research into potential employment pathways, CV preparation and job application completion; development of interview skills; mock interviews. Creation and management of a work experience database. Health and Safety, and Safeguarding vetting and monitoring of placements. Promotion of appropriate work experience placements to participants, including extended work placements. Liaising with partner employers. Offering wraparound support to participants to ensure a successful placement outcome. A range of vocational experiences linked to priority Welsh Government and local vocational sectors. Sectoral specific Advice and Guidance events including STEM and emerging sectors, and to challenge gender bias in certain sectors. Linking work focussed experiences to local progression pathways. To facilitate direct employer links with participants. Employer mentoring support to participants. Employer visits, both into schools/FE Colleges or into the workplace, entrepreneurial role models. 7a. Ages 11-16 (Schools) Short and longer-term interventions offering additionality to statutory provision. Full, partial or unit qualifications (which must be on the DAQW website). https://www.daqw.org.uk/ N.B. Full accreditation on one or two year vocational courses will be eligible for 14-16 year old young people. For post 16 learners in sixth forms or FE provision, only unit accreditation will be eligible. 7b Ages 16-24 (Colleges) Short and longer-term interventions offering additionality to statutory provision.
