Description
NHS Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group were seeking to commission an independent and confidential counselling service for children and young people in Bath and North East Somerset. This service was split into 3 lots so as to provide maximum flexibility to both the commissioner and the bidders. The initial contract terms will be for 5 years with an option to extend for any period(s) up to a maximum of a further 2 years, as defined and at the sole discretion of the commissioner. The services are scheduled to commence on 1.9.2019. This procurement was carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the commissioner. The services are scheduled to commence on 1.9.2019. School Based Counsellors – Area 1 The counselling service will provide for pupils attending the following secondary schools: Beechen Cliff Academy, Broadlands Academy, Chew Valley Academy, Hayesfield Girl’s School, Oldfield Academy, St Marks Church of England School and Wellsway Academy, who need supportive counselling as a single intervention for the assessment and treatment of emotional distress. The financial envelope for the school based provision (lots 1 and 2) is provided in part by the individual schools that will be receiving the service. Where an individual school does not agree to provide their percentage of the financial envelope, the provider will be notified and the individual school will not receive the service. This will not affect the provision of other schools within this lot. The individual school will then be removed from the lot for that academic year and payments to the provider will be adjusted accordingly. For the avoidance of doubt this means the provider will be paid nothing for the withdrawn school. Twelve schools and both alternative education providers contributed to the school based counselling provision during the 2018/19 academic year. A thirteenth school has confirmed its intention to make the necessary financial contribution for the 19/20 academic year. The counselling provider will be expected to invoice individual schools directly for their contribution towards the service.
