Description

The consultant is to prepare a specification for taking concrete core samples of the deck and for undertaking petrographic examination, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine whether potentially alkali reactive aggregates are present, and if so, whether there is any evidence of alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) or any other form of concrete deterioration. The specification should include the locations of all concrete cores, taking due account of the post-tensioning system. It should also include a schedule of petrographic examinations, SEM and XRD. Drawings should be provided as part of the specification.
