Description

The successful supplier will be required to provide catering services for Chenderit School. Chenderit School is a mixed 11-18 secondary school on the outskirts of Northamptonshire County Council Education authority and just 3 miles from Banbury in Oxfordshire. The school became an academy in 2012. The tender project is seeking to appoint a supplier whose initiative and innovation will be welcomed for the provision of service within the existing facilities for the 1030 students on roll and 109 teaching and support staff, with a focus on exciting new food concepts to satisfy a wide range of pupil tastes and dietary requirements. The client would wish the successful supplier to review the current range of services offered and make recommendations accordingly. The contract being tendered is for 3 years in duration from 1.1.2020 to 31.12.2022 and will operate as a guaranteed performance contract, with the successful supplier offering the client a guaranteed return/cost per annum for the provision of catering services. The academic year is based on a calendar of 195 days. Five days are to be used for staff professional development which means that School will be open to receive students for the legal minimum of 190 days. The contract offered covers the scope for the provision of all school catering services, which currently includes breakfast, morning break, lunch, hospitality and free issue requirements. Free school meals are to be charged on consumption numbers. There may be a small requirement for hospitality and this will be charged at net food cost. Whilst the client prioritises value for money as a key objective of the competitive tender process, the governing body is not obliged to accept the lowest price. As a school continually seeking ways to improve and develop the ethos and environment for students and staff, to give them the facilities they deserve and need to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, any consideration regarding inward capital investment as part of the supplier’s tender submission would be welcomed. Please be advised that the catering service is currently contracted to ABM Catering Ltd. Please be advised that the client has a minimum requirement for a supplier’s employer’s liability/public liability and professional indemnity insurance of 10 000 000 GBP. Please be advised that there are currently 8 staff employed to deliver the catering service and there are no current catering staff in the LGPS. Chenderit School Catering Vision Statement To perform well we need to eat well. Our students understand the importance of a balanced diet and we wish to provide and maintain a culture of healthy eating throughout the school which will ensure our students lead longer and happier lives. Food education is an important part of our curriculum and our school canteen will support this by enabling our students to make nutritious choices as well offering the opportunity to explore a range of exciting ingredients and flavours. Our school food menu should have an emphasis on providing fresh fruits and vegetables as well as healthy protein foods, which meet the recommendations of the School Food Trust. Speed of service is vital and emphasis should be placed on providing a range of meals which can be taken away and eaten easily. The trend of street and festival food has revolutionised the concept of fast food, proving fast food can be good food. Most importantly, our canteen will provide a range of choices throughout the day that students want to eat, whilst ensuring inclusive and creative recipes are prepared from scratch using the freshest ingredients. With climate change and a growing world population, we aim to provide a canteen service that considers sustainability when sourcing and preparing food. We want to provide good food that makes lives better for our students and staff as well as preserving our health and environment for a better future.
