Summary of the work The content designer will work as part of the multidisciplinary digital team to develop, update and transition user-focused content using agile methodology. The role will also support other Acas digital products and services with content design expertise. Specialist role Content designer Expected Contract Length Initially 18 months with option to extend Latest start date Tuesday 27 July 2021 Maximum Day Rate Up to £600 ex VAT per day. Working hours of 9 to 5.15 excludes travel expenses to Victoria St. Additional expenses only paid with prior approval of Acas. Who Speclialist Work With The role will be part of a multi disciplinary team that includes product and delivey managers, content designers, developers and UX design. It will also provide support to a other projects and programmes as required, working with other individual contractors as well as third party suppliers. Part of the role will be to help upskill an in-house associate content designer. What Specialists Work On "The content designer will a) develop content through cycles of discovery, design, testing, and iteration b) work with internal subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, in line with legislation, reflects Acas position and communicates good employment relations practice c) adhere to Acas style guide and content patterns, contributing improvements to the patterns library d) play an active part in the Acas Digital content team and share expertise and knowledge, helping to upskill an associate content designer e) apply government design standards and principles" Skills & Experience • 3+ years' experience creating, iterating and managing user-centred content using analytics, user feedback, user research and other sources of information (20%) • 3+ years' experience designing digital content for complex projects or topic areas, making sure it’s written in plain English and easy for users to understand (20%) • 3+ years' experience using research, data and analytics to review content performance and user behaviour to inform iterations and improvements (15%) • 1+ years' experience using content management systems (ideally Drupal) 10% Working knowledge of HTML5 (5%) • Experience contributing to user research and usability testing, observing sessions and helping to analyse results (5%) • Proven ability to work across different projects and adapt to changing priorities (5%) • Proven experience working with internal and external stakeholders (5%) • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure (5%) Nice to Haves • Experience of working to GOV.UK standards including the Service Design Standard, design patterns and style guide (5%) • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary agile team (5%) Work Location Windsor House, 50 Victoria St, Westminster, London SW1H 0TL Working Arrangments This will be primarily a remote role, with regular travel (potentially weekly or twice a week) to the main office in Victoria St. Acas will pay travel expenses to locations outside London.
