Design and construction of a wheeled sports facility

Value

Description

Design & Construction of a new Wheeled Sports Facility Bude-Stratton Town Council are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified design and build contractor to undertake the design, renovation, enhancement and build of a new wheeled sports facility named Cable Park, near Crooklets beach in Bude, Cornwall. Bude deserves a modern wheeled sports facility that has space and interest for a wide range of ages, skills and types of wheeled sports. It shall be a destination venue fully accessible, visitor friendly, safe and with green credentials. The wheeled sports project looks to expand the current site; we are proposing that the current park is enhanced and improved with a focus on beginners and other wheeled sports users and that a new site further inland constructed from new, for more advanced users. Between the new and existing site there is a green zone with a buried transatlantic cable which must not be disturbed. This is a no-dig zone 3m wide either side of the buried cable. There will be a need for transition routes between the existing and the new sites but that do not compromise the no-dig policy. The ecology of the site isn't outstanding, but it is in a highly visible location and there is a strong local appreciation of the Downs landscape. It is within 2km buffer of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), within SSSI Impact Risk Zones and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) is located approximately 115m to the West of the site. Tenderers are requested to submit their Concept Design for the Project at tender and will be assessed on their response to the Cable Park vision, price, relevant experience, method and programme. Contractors whose bids are of interest will be provided the opportunity to present these proposals to a panel including the User Group. The successful contractor will be responsible for initially gaining planning approvals for the project, RIBA stage 3. If planning is successful along with funding for the project being gained by the employer, the contractor will then be responsible for RIBA works stages 4-6. We anticipate site works starting preferably by September 2024, with completion no later than Easter 2025. Given the location of the site, consideration should be allowed within the programme for adverse weather. The project is supported by external funding grants and Bude-Stratton Town Council. Please email FC-Zerilli@bude-stratton.gov.uk expressing an interest and you will be provided with the tender pack to complete and return.
