Description
Havforskningsinstituttet (HI) [the Institute of Marine Research] has developed and used methods to analyse microplastics in complex environmental samples such as seafood, plankton and other marine biota, fish food and bottom sediments using micro FTIR. It is the intention of HI to establish monitoring and research on microplastics in complex environmental samples within HI's area of responsibility. The Institute of Marine Research has procured the rapid chemical imaging system Spero T from Daylight Solutions via their Scandinavian distributor MG Optical Solutions GmbH. Lot 1: The Institute of Marine Research]has developed and used methods to analyse microplastics in complex environmental samples such as seafood, plankton and other marine biota, fish food and bottom sediments using micro FTIR. A critical step in the process is decomposition of the naturally occurring organic material, a final filtration in order to concentrate the sample on a Mid-IR transparent filter (Ø25 mm Anodisc (ADF)), image recording of the sample area using rapid Mid-IR based methods with minor need of space and none LN2 for cooling. Due to limited space the instrument and accessories must fit on a workplate (80x120 cm2, WxD). To minimise the risk of contamination of clean rooms by moving dewars out and in again, the instrument must not be dependent on LN2. - Data file formats must be compatible with the software siMPle and MPAPP. - HI participates in activities to harmonise MP analyses. IR image recording in transmission is required in order to ensure transfer of knowledge and libraries created with the current solution. - We need two setting options for the resolution: standard resolution - We need the ability to study events in real time by monochromatic lighting, high resolution, a wide visual field and a frequency of >30 Hz. - Movement of the sample platform must be automatic in x, y and z and must have a reproduceable precision of - Automation. The user must be able to set the x, y, and z coordinates for all ADFs in a transmission mode with a pixel resolution of - HI has many samples stored on the ADF log and must be able to measure them in transmission with a pixel resolution of - The instrument must have CE certification and shall be connected to Norwegian standard power outlets, 230 V, 50-60 Hz.
