National Records of Scotland (NRS) undertook a procurement to appoint a supplier for Stage 1 of its Estates Space Planning project, which is critical to shaping the organisation’s long-term estate strategy. This initial stage involves delivering a comprehensive utilisation survey across four key Edinburgh buildings—General Register House, West Register House, New Register House, and Thomas Thomson House—to assess current space usage and identify opportunities for improvement. The appointed supplier will validate existing data, conduct detailed site surveys, engage stakeholders through workshops and interviews, and produce an outline proposal with strategic recommendations, conceptual layouts, and indicative costs.
