Description

MEDITE Europe DAC are looking for suitably qualified Fire suppression companies to install suppression systems in the following Motor Control Centre (MCC) rooms across the Medite plant. • Anner HV Sub-Station • Fire-Pump House MCC • Line1 post-press MCC Project Background Mandatory Insurance Requirement Medite electrical distribution network comprises 17 Motor Control Centre rooms, and the main HV Switch-room located at Anner Substation. (See MCC layout drawing in Appendix 3). A number of these MCCs and the main Switch-room are considered higher impact and risk, due to the criticality of the processes they support and the ageing condition of the installed switchgear and associated cooling systems. Overall Program Objectives The multi-year goal of this program is to ensure that all site MCC + HV switch-room comply with legislative requirements and industry best practice for extinguishing electrical fires automatically. It is proposed to install a similar Clean Agent gaseous suppression system with appropriate smoke detection in all MCC rooms, starting with those with critical switchgear. Program estimated to take ~4 years. The program scope includes: • Design of suppression system for each room considering:  Size and fabric of structure  Presence of a floor void(s) or not  Age + condition of switchgear (risk of overheating + fire)  Ability to seal room effectively *  Type of cooling + air-handling (AHU) in place  Characterization of pressure in room now – Positive or Negative **  Ability to locate pressurized cylinders nearby • All necessary civil, mechanical and electrical (pre)works to enable the chosen system(s) • Integration of each system’s controls into the existing plant fire alarm system, where applicable to deliver the project goals • Ensure compatibility of control system with existing ones (fire control panel) * for total flood systems ** most Medite MCCs are positive pressure to keep out dust As part of the 2026 program of works the following 3 electrical rooms are to be addressed: • Anner Sub-station switch-room • Fire Pumphouse MCC room • Line1 Press Outfeed MCC room Preferred route is to install an Inert Gas system with appropriate Smoke Detection system. Scope of Works • Evaluate Enclosure Integrity Test results (‘door-fan’ test report) • Determine existing baseline for cooling, air-handling + room pressure profile • Based on results of EIT report referenced in Appendix 3, recommend and execute remedial measures • Determine and design optimal suppression system • Design and specify all necessary smoke / heat detection systems • Fire seal room to appropriate fire-rate • Install fire detection system • Install suppression system • Link system to house alarm and test • Validate and certify finished system *** Please see the attached Tender Document for the full and Complete scope of Works ***
