Description
The approach to Grenland Port is amongst Norway’s most trafficked fairways. The crossings are considered demanding, with many course changes in combination with current, primarily generated by the river outlets in the Frierfjorden [Frier Fjord]. The measure will be implemented to provide increased safety and better traffic deviation in the area. The tender deadline can be postponed due to circumstances surrounding the corona virus pandemic. This will continually be evaluated. The competition is announced on the proviso that if necessary permits are not granted or if other justifiable reasons hinder the project, commencement of the construction work may be postponed. The consequence of such a delay is that the deadline for completion can be postponed by the same length of time. The measure includes deepening of the fairway through Kalvenløpet and deepening of new fairway through Gamle Langesund, and is referred to as the Grenland Approach. Kalvenløpet will be deepened to a fairway depth of 16.8 metres and a fairway width of 300 metres, so this becomes a double route. In this fairway, there are a total of three areas to be deepened, Orebukten, Midtbåen and Kløvsteinbåen. Combined these total approx. 3 903 m3. The current fairway through Kjørtingen will be changed to go through Gamle Langesund and will have a fairway depth of 15.3 m and a fairway width of 150 m. This will be an individual route. The measure through Gamle Langesund includes deepening of approx. 142 656 m3 distributed in 2 areas. There is a minor quantity of loose matter (approx. 1 000 m3) in Gamle Langesund. The loose matter is described as contaminated and must be delivered to an approved landfill. The contractor must locate a certified landfill for delivery of these materials. In principle, the blasted rock materials will be deposited in a sea disposal site at the respective deepening areas. Contractors will be given the opportunity and freedom to dispose of all blasted rock materials in another manner. The blasted rock recipients must have all public permits in place prior to receiving and must also be certified by the Norwegian Coastal Administration in advance. Examples of permits are at sea dumping permits, sea filling, etc. from i.a. the County Governor, municipalities and the Norwegian Coastal Administration. The planned depths for the project are -15.3 m in Gamle Langesund and -16.8 m in Kalvenløpet ref. nautical chart null. Total quantities that will be deepened in the project are calculated to be approx. 147 800 m3 of solid projected materials. Total distribution between loose matter and rock is anticipated to be about: — 1 000 fm³ loose matter over an areas of 1,670 m2 in Gamle Langesund — 146 560 fm³ rock over an area of 31 500 m2 The distributed quantity of rock is as follows: — Gamle Langesund part 2: 142 272 m3 — Gamle Langesund part 3: 384 m3 Kløvsteinbåen: 1 897 m3 — Midtfjordbåen: 1 319 m3 — Orebuktbåen: 687 m3 The areas and currents for the different parts are shown in the drawings and the quantity description.
