CodSELect project Twin Trawl Catch Comparison

Published

Value

48,000 GBP

Description

Marine Directorate (MD) - Marine Laboratory is to carry out charter trials to assess the effect of artificial light in the bottom panel of a SELTRA box in reducing the catch of cod from Nephrops trawls. This requirement is solely for vessels in a PO (membership of a Producer Organisation). Scientific quota (SQ) is being offered up to the value of 49,000 GBP. The scientific quota is non transferrable and can only be used for the purposes of the contracted work with the Marine Directorate and within the specified dates of the contract when awarded. The scientific quota will be awarded retrospectively following submission of sales notes to cover all landings made during the charter. The landings to be reported against SQ will be removed from the vessel’s quota uptake statistics. Where a vessels lands less than 49,000 GBP worth of catch a charter fee will be paid to make up the shortfall. If the vessel lands more than the monetary value agreed, the excess must be covered by the vessel’s own quota allocation. The vessel is to report all catch and landings made during the charter as usual. Catches of fish below minimum size (undersized fish) in the fisheries under the landing obligation must be landed and marketed for purposes other than for direct human consumption. These amounts will be deducted from the vessel’s and Producer Organisation’s quota uptake.
