Description

The team considered what improvements to the Lower Nursery Glasshouse could be carried out to reduce the energy load without significantly disrupting operations. Proposed works include repairs to glass partitions and doors, infilling openings and overhauling the thermal blinds in each zone. It would be too disruptive to replace the existing heating pipes under the planting benches so these will be retained. On this basis, RBG Kew have also initiated a project to decarbonise the heating system serving the Lower Nursery and adjacent staff facilities and reduce their energy demand. ## Contract award
