Multi - Disciplinary Consultancy Services (Land-Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, Planning and Design Services, Sports Recreational Planning Services and GIS Services) to prepare a recreational infrastructure needs study, which will provide Kildare County Council with an understanding of the scope and quality of existing recreational facilities and an appreciation of the future active recreational need of the County up to 2028 and beyond to 2040. Project Aim: To develop an active recreational needs study that will: • Establish a profile of Recreational provision in County Kildare; • Establish a profile of recreational activity / facilities in 2024 to inform the ARIS; • Establish a profile of strategic sporting infrastructure required to meet the needs of County Kildare in 2024, 2028 and 2040; • Establish a profile of sporting infrastructure required to meet the needs of County Kildare and its constituent settlements in 2024, 2028 and 2040; • Establish the need for indoor sporting infrastructure required to meet the needs of County Kildare in 2024, 2028 and 2040. • Provide a basis for the land use planning framework to meet the needs of existing and future populations; • Provide a business basis for County Kildare to secure funding for investment in indoor and outdoor active recreational infrastructure (ARI) and to inform future planning outputs (e.g. County Development Plan, Local Area Plans, masterplans, Development Contribution Schemes, etc.); • Provide a basis for determining ARI requirements as an input into the brief for the design of new larger Urban Neighbourhood and Regional Parks. Project components: There will effectively be ten work packages: Stage 0 Project Inception following Appointment of Consultant Stage 1 Baseline Review and Best Practice Review Stage 2 Combined Recreational Needs Survey and Audit of recreational facilities and organisations to determine perspectives on demand and need for active and passive recreational need to inform ARIS, Outdoor Recreation Plan and Sports Plan. Stage 3 Combined Recreational Needs Assessment Report 2024: Report on outcome of survey: Profile of recreational activities, facilities, survey outcome and perspectives.
