Sensory Service to offer support to those who have a range of needs relating to sensory impairment to enable then to live as independently as possible through the provision of specialist assessment, rehabilitation, advice, guidance, communication(such as British Sign Language) and equipment. The successful provider will hold the Sight Loss Register (Certificate of Visual Impairment) on half of the Council. Lot 1: Provision of a sensory services across Angus. The service will offer support to those who have a range of needs relating to sensory impairment and their families/carers. The service provider will also maintain the register of visually impaired people - Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI). The groups to be supported are Adults who are deaf or who present as having hearing loss, adults who are certified blind or partially sighted or present as having a visual impairment and adults, due to the extent of their dual sensory loss, require the specialism of a Guide Communicator Service. The service will aim to enable supported people to live as independently as possible and to continue to lead active lives, whilst providing the necessary support in areas of communication, mobility and information to achieve personal goals. Providers will also be required to assess the equipment needs required of a supported person by demonstrating aids and supporting people in the use of specialist equipment.
